2010 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

This years slam dunk contest consisted of the rookie Demar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors, Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers, Gerald Wallace of the Charolette Bobcats and the reigning champ Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks. These athletes can definitly throw it down but this is when all the majic and skills happen. All the fans were looking forward to seeing this epic showdown but it was all but dreadful.

Additionally, the Toronto Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Eric Gordon will compete in the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk-In, a single-round slam dunk competition that will be held at halftime of the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam on Feb. 12. The winner will get a shot against the other three contenders in the Sprite Slam Dunk competition. DeRozan won without any effort.

The first round was not all that impressive because these superstars performed pretty simple dunks that you would see during a game. Except for DeRozan and Robinson, you can tell that they brought their A game and the first round came to an end.

In the second round Shannon Brown brings out Kobe Bryant to assist him with an ally-oop. Kobe comes to the floor and delivers it to Brown whom throws it down with his left hand. So thats 2 dunks both with his left hand. Gerald Wallace is then assisted by Flick Murray and to no ones surprise he dunks it reverse style. Now its DeRozans turn, and he brings Sunny Weems to the court to help him. DeRozan catches it off the side of the backboard and reverse slams it. This performance was the only dunk of the night that received a perfect score.

After I seen that dunk I knew it was over, it was a wrap. After Robinson caught his 180 degree ally-oop and slammed it I was so confident in DeRozan's dunk that I even had to text the voting poll in his favour.

Finally, when it came down to it, Nate Robinson won by 51% of the votes and was crowned 2010 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Champion. This is a controversal issue because DeRozan had the highest score and was the only dunked to score that high but still lost. I mean why are there judges there if they don't make a final decision and instead leave it up to the fans to decide? In my opinion Demar DeRozan should have been crowned champion..and I'm pretty sure you would agree with me after watching this video..
